Our Walking Buses have been in operation since July 2006 and have proved very popular.
A Walking Bus is simply a group of children who walk together to school with parents or other volunteers, one acting as the 'driver' who leads the way and the others as conductors who supervise the children.
Our 3 Walking buses operate on Wednesday morning and have proved to be very popular with about 35 children 'on board'.Our buses cover the Whittingham Drive area and then along Nuttall Lane, entering the school site via 'Walkers Way'-a footpath along the school field which opened in 2006.
Walking Buses provide a safe, healthy and sociable way of getting to school and help to reduce car journeys, thereby reducing pollution and traffic congestion.

Each bus has stops along the way.
We urgently need some more adult helpers to walk with the children, otherwise our buses may have to be cut back.If you can help, even only occasionally, or your child would like to book a place on the 'bus' please contact the school for more details.

Walk to School Week (21st-25th May 2007)

For the Duration of the week the children are encouraged to walk to School. As a healthy school we are not only encouraging exercise amongst pupils but also reducing the Carbon Footprint we leave. Mrs Graves issued a Press release which is reproduced below.
PRESS RELEASE
“As we are a “Healthy School” we were very keen to participate in Walk to School week. We have encouraged parents and children to walk to school every day this week. This is in addition to our regular weekly walking buses.
We had balloons, badges and reward charts to try to persuade everyone to walk to school and encourage people to reduce car exhaust fumes.”
